Too many tradeoffs. The 12 Pro Max is a large and heavy device that is not optimized for one-handed use (no one-handed mode or split-screen mode)

12 pro max is AMAZING

Would of been nicer if they would of included a 90 hz screen or 120 hz screen.

Nice review with the pros and cons, especially in regard to the camera. I shoot with SLR's, so even the best phone camera pales by comparison but a friend wanted to know if it was worth upgrading. Even I'm impressed with the improvements over the years, for the low-light noise and the image stabilization has come a long way. I'm not so certain I'd buy a $1500 phone just to upgrade cameras (and certainly not for the 5G hype in the US, either). Thanks for helping confirm some of my suspicions, though, for it's a nice all-around review and comparison with the products from other lines.

So what about us outside the US? I can't find any decent show like this in my country (Sweden) so when you talk about how it's not worth upgrading to 5G because of how slow the US network is, I feel a bit lost.

What you never heard of the iPhone 8+? My 12 pro Max is a tiny bit larger than my 8+. For gods sake the 12 Max is not too big. It does have more heft but so what. You’ll get used to it. I’m just so sick & tired of tech you tubers saying that it’s too big or it’s colossal. Don’t you folks know about the 8+??? The 12 Max is the most timelessly gorgeous piece of hardware yet.

This review makes it seem like the iPhone 12 pro max has the best image quality but it doesn’t, the reviewer even goes further to say night mode is the best when compared to all, the truth is apple is playing catch up to the best. Other phones have larger sensors even. I’m not saying it’s not a good phone.

Literally watching this on my 12 Pro Max and I’m returning it because it’s so heavy! Yes the battery life is beyond amazing, BUT it’s not great for everyday use. I’m coming from a 6s so this was a HUGE change.

FYI. AT&T Stream saver can be turned off or turned on by the AT&T app. You click on data,scroll down and click on manage stream saver. Turn on or off. It is a option for people Who have low data plans That don’t want to waste all of there data at once by streaming a video.

I upgraded from the 8+ to the 12 Pro Max. I wanted the better camera since I take a lot of photos. The size doesn’t bother me at all. I didn’t think I’d use 5G since I live in a rural county in Virginia. Surprisingly I get 5G. Very pleased with this purchase

Why do reviewers seem to prefer ultrawide lenses to telephotos? I’ve done pro photo work, and I’m usually more concerned will zooming in to fill the frame, rather than catching more scenery. Telephoto will be especially important once we start going back to live concerts.

I've been upgrading every 3 years since 2008, but I think I'll pass this time. My iPhone X is still working fine, though it could use a battery replacement ($69). It'll probably feel new after that. Spending as much on this new iPhone as I did for my 2020 11" iPad Pro with accessories/Apple Care+, which has the 120hz screen and Apple Pencil 2, doesn't seem to be worth it. I like having a great camera since I take a lot of photos, but the argument about this being a device for a much more mobile lifestyle is a strong one. Between two MacBooks, two iPads, an Apple Watch and an iPhone, I'm already Maxed-out on screens to look at. I've never bought a used or refurbished Apple product besides my Watch ($600 off retail), but with Apple's flagships now pegged at $1,099+ seemingly permanently, I may try to find one for at least 25% off in 1-2 years.
